Read My Text Messages - App Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 09, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Read My Text Messages (the "App") handles your information. Our guiding principle is "Zero-Footprint" utility: we believe your private messages should stay private.

1. Data Collection and Usage

The App is designed to process information locally on your device. We do not operate any external servers to collect or store your personal data.

  • Notification Data: The App uses the Android NotificationListenerService to access incoming messages. This data is used solely to provide the real-time Text-to-Speech (TTS) feature.
  • Local Processing: Message content, sender names, and notification metadata are processed in the device's volatile memory. This data is never stored permanently, transmitted over the internet, or shared with third parties.

2. Permissions and Their Purpose

To function as a hands-free assistant, the App requires the following permissions:

  • Notification Access: Necessary to read incoming alerts from whitelisted messaging apps.
  • Foreground Service (Remote Messaging): Required to keep the TTS engine active and reliable while the screen is off or the App is in the background.
  • Bluetooth Connect: Used to route spoken messages to your car head unit or wireless speakers.
  • Google Play Billing: Used to process the one-time "Remove Ads" upgrade.

3. Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services which may collect data per their own policies:

  • Google AdMob: Serves advertisements. AdMob may use device identifiers to serve non-personalized or personalized ads.
  • Google Play Services: Used for app stability, billing, and core Android functionality.

4. Data Retention

We do not retain any history of your messages.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. Changes are effective immediately upon being posted.
